参考范文：When travelling to another nation, people need to be aware of the local customs and traditions in order to avoid offending the locals. However, whether or not they ought to follow those customs and traditions will be discussed.

By following the local customs and traditions, people would be able to integrate into the local culture with greater ease. This would make life smoother and they would not face much resistance from locals or difficulties from living in a foreign culture. Moreover, they would be able to experience a new lifestyle that is different from their own and escape the daily grind of living in their own countries. In this way,they can also open up their minds and widen their worldviews to the ways that people live in other nations.

Nevertheless, to force individuals to adhere to certain customs and traditions they are particularly unwilling to follow would be against their own free will. To illustrate this point, it is quite common for people of various religions to avoid eating certain types of meat such as pork, beef or seafood. In this situation, it is unacceptable to push them to abandon their beliefs and values in order to conform to local behaviours and ways of thinking. In other words, each person has their individual baseline of activities they are willing to participate in or not, which should not be breached in the name of assimilating into a culture.

In conclusion, there are benefits to following local customs and traditions such as opening up one’s perspectives and enjoying a smoother trip. Nonetheless, it would be unacceptable to impose restrictions on people if it violates their personal beliefs or free will.
